FRBA July Meeting
Tuesday, July 24 at 5:30pm
For our FRBA July 2018 meeting, we will be welcoming Paul Moses, who will discuss the Redondo Beach City General Plan Advisory Board’s (GPAC) impacts and possibilities on the art community and the Public Art Program. The General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) is an ad hoc committee established by the Mayor and City Council to update the City’s General Plan. The GPAC serves as an important component of the public participation program providing one of the primary communication channels for the community to make recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council. The purpose of the GPAC is to provide recommendations to City Staff and to the consultant team regarding strategic milestones in the process (Land Use Plan, Focus Areas, etc.) and to assist in the formation of City goals and policies with respect to land use and conservation, recreation and parks, and open space. Another crucial function of the GPAC for this project is to analyze and make recommendations regarding amendments to the mixed use zoning and development standards.
Paul Moses was Vice-Chairman on the Public Art Commission for the, eight year maximum, two terms. He brings an in-depth understanding of complex art installations. As Site Manager at Standard Vision, LLC., he coordinated installation of technology and secure transportation of LED technology to project sites for multi-million dollar media facades and narrative lighting. Paul completed a major Public Art installation by artist Jenny Holzer at the Qualcomm campus in San Diego and also distinguished himself during his stint at Russell Sculpture Studios where he was responsible for all aspects of monumental public and private art commissions. Paul created many winning proposals for major public art commissions for the City of Downey, the City of Cerritos, The California Arts Council, the State of California, Kaiser Permanente and Oklahoma State University at Tulsa, with budgets ranging from $90,000 to $500,000.
